Day 7 Day 9 Home

We left Arcos de la Frontera, which requires a driving through the labyrinth of "streets" until exiting at the base of the cliff. The curved building atop the cliff is the Parador (hotel). Note grazing cow at bottom.

Drove through Sierra Grazalema park. Spectacular scenary and wildflowers.

Alison enjoys the landscape.

On to Sentenil de las Bodegas (Donald's favorite), a strange little town by anyone's standards.

Many of the buildings are built into old caves along the river. The architecture is in no way influenced by the presence of the caves - traditional Spanish roofs incline from a traditional front fascade up to the cave roof and abruptly stop. The ceilings and back walls of the buildings feature the natural cave walls. Pretty weird.

Drove a few laps through town trying to exit, and after a brief squabble about navigation, headed to Sevilla. Sevilla combines the driving job of the old narrow twisting roads with 6-lane mega-roundabouts and other modern annoyances. We got close to the hotel, parked the car and walked over.

Our hotel in Sevilla, despite a very traditional exterior and inner courtyard, has way modern rooms (including wide-format TV). We later walked around and located Karil B's engagement location.

Ken learns that marriage is a compromise, so while he doesn't understand why Alison wouldn't want his socks laid out on the floor "looking like dead people!", he can live without doing so.
