Spain, Day 3 of 10 (Saturday, 26 May 2001)

Day 2 Day 4 Home

We left Granada and drove towards Villanueva de la Concepcion, stopping first at Alhama de Granada. The Moorish baths are still a popular resort, as they have been for hundreds of years. Alhama de Granada, like many of the ancient towns in southern Spain, is perched atop a defensible cliff. Also like many of the ancient towns in Southern Spain, Alhama de Granada offered many touristy trinkets that shrieked "Terry Pechacek". We bought a goatherder's whistle for Terry.

Alison was pretty happy with the wildflowers. Queen Anne's Lace as big as your head.

Alison had a panic that the next destination would be too rural for Ken, who noted that this region was less rural than Waitsfield, Vermont.

Arrived at La Posada del Torcal, a stunningly beautiful inn in a striking setting. We stayed in the Zurbaran Suite. Thoroughly decadent.

Ate a fine meal on the dining terrace.
