1996 Chevrolet Impala SS - Mods in 2004

July 2004
Like so many of these cars, I suffered from the P1870 code, so here is the picture of the valve body out of the car, the Sonnax fix-it kit, the accompanying reamer, and a quart of Zep cutting fluid courtesy neighbor and Zep rep David (I used about half of it cutting and flushing). I was pleased to find I could turn the big ol' reamer by hand, and it took about 5 minutes to bore the new holes. Sonnax claims the reamer is good for another 50 or so jobs, so I should be set for about 500 years. Note: Glad I installed that Silverado trans pan 4 years ago which, unlike the factory Impala pan, has a drain plug.
