Spain, Day 2 of 10 (Friday, 25 May 2001)

Day 1 Day 3 Home

Walked throughout the Albaicin, the Islamic quarter. We wandered throughout the tiny streets.

There's lots of Bougainvillaea in Southern Spain.
AK: even though the plant in the picture is not Bougainvillaea.

Great panoramic vista viewed from the old city towards the Alhambra.

Predictably Alison enjoyed the Generalife, the gardens around the Alhambra.

We had lunch downtown at an outdoor cafe and observed that those yucky black olives are used as garnish.

The topiary is fort-like.

The Alhambra nestled among the terrain...

The Alhambra is heavily touristed...

Alison takes in the sights.

Enjoyed drinks at the Parador and some smoked fish, then back down the Cuesta de los Chinos to a restaurant staffed by Moroccans. Noticed the interesting Moroccan specials only after eating albondigas, calamari, etc.
